Number One

“I said to Yahweh, ‘You are my Lord; I have nothing good besides You.'” – Psalm 16:2

I am a blessed man. God gave me a godly wife that I did not deserve. He then gave us two great kids and four wonderful grandkids. He has even allowed me the privilege of serving Him all over the world alongside some amazing saints. Don’t get me wrong, there have been some dark days, but even in the midst of that darkness I was remarkably blessed by His sustaining grace. Yet, the greatest blessing of all … the blessing that has made all the others possible … is the sure knowledge that Jesus is my Lord and, therefore, also my Savior. All the other “good” in my life … as good as it is … cannot compare with how good it is to know Him.

Yessir … BLESSED.

I sometimes forget to count my blessings, but today I will name them one-by-one. Won’t you? Just be sure that when you count, the name beside #1 is always His.

A man may lose the good things of this life against his will; but if he loses the eternal blessings, he does so with his own consent. – Augustine
