The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, because God’s glory illuminates it, and its lamp is the Lamb. – Revelation 21:23
I first heard “Soon and Very Soon” on a trip to the interior of Jamaica back in 1987 … and have loved it ever since. The song invites broad and individual participation (as anyone can add a verse of their own) like … “No more cryin’ there …” or “No more dyin’ there …”. Yes, soon and very soon, we are going to see the King!
As I read the verse above, it also occurred to me that there would be no more “tannin'” there either! Ridiculous? Of course, but in truth, the new earth is a place of “more” and “no more.” In that glorious place where the saints will spend eternity, there will be more Christ … and no more anti-Christ. There will be more life … and no more death. There will be more freedom … and no more bondage. There will be more rejoicing … and no more grieving.
And consider this, we who know Christ are already citizens of this future land … the land of “more and no more.” Hallelujah! Hallelujah! We are going to see the King!
He alone can believe in immortality who feels the resurrection in him already. – Frederick W. Robertson
