Worth the Risk

Nebuchadnezzar exclaimed, “Praise to the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego! He sent His angel and rescued His servants who trusted in Him. They violated the king’s command and risked their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.” – Daniel 3:28
Contrary to their own desires, but according to the will of an Almighty God, Daniel and his three friends were forcibly exiled to a pagan, idolatrous Babylon. Yet, from the beginning, these four young men made the conscious decision to live respectfully, but differently while absolutely honoring God through their decisions. The result was that their lives and testimonies are shining examples of uncompromising conviction under extreme persecution and cultural pressure.
Convicting, isn’t it? These young men risked their very lives to serve the One, true God over the idols that surrounded and pervaded their culture, yet … it seems that today most Christians rarely even risk our comfort to do the same. This must change. For a loving, clear, biblical testimony will always be our greatest defense against and influence upon an oppressively wicked tide.
Go forth today, by the help of God’s Spirit, vowing and declaring that in life … come poverty, come wealth, in death … come pain or come what may, you are and ever must be the Lord’s. For this is written on your heart, “We love Him because He first loved us.” – Charles H. Spurgeon
