Like Clay

Woe to the one who argues with his Maker — one clay pot among many. Does clay say to the one forming it, “What are you making?” – Isaiah 45:9
I really hate to admit it, but God and I don’t always get along. Generally-speaking, we do. I mean I get that He is Lord of the universe and I’m not, but sometimes when His ways are “beyond finding out” it really, quite frankly … yes, I know He is listening … ticks me off.
In one of my favorite scenes in one of my favorite movies, two men are burying another man who had been killed by armed bandits. When one of the men asked the other if he would like to say a few words over the grave, the older man replied, “You want to speak with the man upstairs, do it. I’ll stand right here and listen, but I ain’t talking to that (supply your own invective here)!
Raw? Yes. Inappropriate? Sure. Honest? Absolutely … and I’m sure we have all felt that way before and even might experience that pain again. Perhaps, you even feel that way right now. It’s okay. God understands. Ultimately, we will “get it,” but first we must yield to “it,” whatever “it” is. He is the Potter and we are the clay, to be broken and used for His glory and ultimate glorification.
You may be angry for a time, but ultimately you must be … you will be … molded for His purpose.

Anger is a wind which blows out the lamp of the mind. – Robert Green Ingersoll
