Seeking Success

He sought God throughout the lifetime of Zechariah, the teacher of the fear of God. During the time that he sought the Lord, God gave him success. – 2 Chronicles 26:5

In this world, there are many different formulas for success. Usually, these “formulas” involve a program or series of steps, which if followed correctly, offer the results you desire. Too often, these methods provide only a brief victory and prevent us from achieving more long-term sustainable goals. “Quick and easy” and “plug and play” rarely work.

Before we pursue the next great “answer” to our organizational need, we might want to be certain that we are first pursuing God.  He is frequently lost in our program or campaign, our efforts miss their aim, funds are wasted, and the only thing that is achieved is notoriety and failure. The work that makes God’s glory the ultimate aim will never fail, even if the world says it will.

The Christ-follower’s success is never found in seeking IT, but rather in seeking HIM.

Don’t confuse fame with success. Madonna is one; Helen Keller is the other. – Erma Bombeck
