Then Jesus said to him, ”If You can? Everything is possible to the one who believes.” Immediately the father of the boy cried out, “I do believe! Help my unbelief.” – Mark 9:23-24
Has your faith in God ever truly been tested? It is easy to say, “I believe,” when all is well, but is your God still considered faithful when all is not?
Perhaps, like the man above, you believe in God, but there have been times when you were uncertain … unconvinced that He would come to your aid or respond to your need as you expected. You have not doubted His power, but you have … at times … suspected His goodness. I have been there. Have you? Is God still “good … all the time” … even when our needs are not met?
This is true faith … believing in God’s innate goodness when His answer satisfies His purpose and seems to ignore our felt need. Yes, it is difficult, but true faith still cries, “Lord, help my unbelief.”
A man has no more character than he can command in a time of crisis. – Ralph W. Sockman
