Realize now that the LORD has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary. Be strong, and do it. – 1 Chronicles 28:10
Nearing the end of his life on earth, David took the time to remind his son, Solomon that he was God’s choice to serve as king and complete the Temple … and then he added, “Be strong, and do it.”
Are you one of God’s “chosen?” While we often speak of a special calling for those in professional ministry, if you truly belong to Him, then the answer is still, “yes.” And, as in Solomon’s case, being God’s choice requires some action on your part. God desires you to do something with your life. While you may not build a temple, He has provided you with a “temple” that He expects you to use to build His Kingdom. The problem is not that we lack a task, rather (if we are honest) it is that we may lack the initiative.
When we became followers of Christ, He said (through the Holy Spirit), “Be strong, and do it.” If we fail, it is usually because we lack the courage and give up; therefore, let us remember the goal and remain courageous.
We will truly succeed, if God be truly glorified.
Perseverance – a lowly virtue whereby mediocrity achieves an inglorious success. – Ambrose Bierce
