So now, let Pharaoh look for a discerning and wise man and set him over the land of Egypt. – Genesis 41:33
It is an important moment in every organization when a new leader is chosen. Particularly, when this organization is in the middle of a crisis. For example, Egypt faced a great famine and in order to be prepared for the lean years ahead, they needed a great leader. The Pharaoh wisely chose Joseph (son of Jacob) and the country not only survived the famine, it prospered.
Are you in a position to play a part in the selection of a new leader for your church, organization, or business? If you are also a follower of Christ, then there are a couple of things you should consider.
First of all, does this person walk with God? What evidence exists that he (or she) lives in the presence of the Almighty? It should be obvious. Second, is he wise and intelligent? Does his past reveal a life of good decisions … and, of course, the ability to recover from the bad decisions we each inevitably make? Naturally, there are other questions to be asked, but you can always begin here.
The Pharaoh chose well when he chose Joseph … and you can, too.
