Then Joseph had a dream. When he told it to his brothers, they hated him even more. – Genesis 37:5

Have you ever had a dream? Not necessarily REM’s in the middle of the night, but rather a desire for a certain goal to be accomplished or a hope for a preferred future?
Joseph had two dreams that pictured him as a great leader over all of his brothers and, as you might expect, they hated him for it. Should Joseph have kept his dreams to himself? Maybe, but the fact that he shared them indicates innocence rather than arrogance. Joseph was just naïve.
Perhaps, like Joseph, you have big dreams as well. If so, the first question you need to ask yourself is if your dreams originate with God or come from personal desires for greatness. God is not interested in making you great, unless your greatness will serve His purposes. BE SURE YOUR DREAMS ARE HIS. Second, you should understand that if God has placed a dream upon your heart, then His preferred future for you will not come easily. Generally speaking, people don’t like dreamers, because they challenge the status quo and small ideas. Our enemy (the Devil) also doesn’t like those who desire the things of God; therefore, if you dream big dreams for God, your path will never be smooth.
Dream big anyway. If your dreams are His, you cannot fail.

I was a peripheral visionary. I could see the future, but only way off to the side. – Steven Wright
