In the same way, when you obey me you should say, “We are unworthy servants who have simply done our duty.” – Luke 17:10
Are you “ordinary?” I can honestly say that it is something I have never really aspired to be. Being “ordinary” just doesn’t sound very exciting. I mean, who wants to be truly … “ordinary?”
Unless, of course, you want to be “ordinary” for Christ. You see, if a person is “ordinary” for Jesus, he or she will be nothing less than “extra-ordinary” in this world. Attributes or characteristics that mark the life of a Spirit-filled Christ-follower (such as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control … i.e. “fruit of the Spirit”) are not considered normal or “ordinary” in everyday life. Sadly, they also may not be as normal as they should be for a lot of Christians either!
Here is a great motto for us all: BE ORDINARY! It may not be glamorous, but it is good … and being ordinary for Christ is not as easy as it sounds.
You can tell alot about a fellow’s character by his way of eating jellybeans. – Ronald Reagan
