He went on a little farther and fell to the ground. He prayed that, if it were possible, the awful hour awaiting him might pass him by. – Mark 14:35

If a person is given two choices, rarely will he or she choose a path that is most difficult … right? Everyone knows this. It is common sense. Of course, sometimes we are not given a choice. We must take the hard path, because it is the ONLY one available. Jesus HAD a choice, but because He was the obedient Son of His Father, He willingly chose the hardest path possible in order to make the impossible (forgiveness of sin) possible.
Perhaps you are facing a difficult decision. I’ve had my share. Maybe it seems like every path available is extremely difficult and more than you can endure. A Christ-follower (no matter how hard the choice) must remain obedient to the Lord. Yet, when facing such an arduous journey, it is okay to ask the Father if (possibly) the “awful hour might pass you by.”
If it cannot, then please remember this. God loves you and He will give you the strength to follow the path of His choosing.
All the world is full of suffering. It is also full of overcoming. – Helen Keller
