Listen to me, you wise men. Pay attention, you who have knowledge. Job said, “The ear tests the words it hears just as the mouth distinguishes between foods.” So, let us discern for ourselves what is right; let us learn together what is good. – Job 34:2-4
For as many years as I have been of voting age, there has been a regular call for a return to God and to biblical principles of morality within our country. Interestingly, even though I am sure many true followers of Christ have been a part of these rallies, these meetings are often led by those who do not actually follow the teachings of Scripture.
Is this good? Is this right?
While I agree with the need to call the churches of our nation (in particular, the followers of Christ) to become politically active and involved in government, should we not act with some discernment when aligning ourselves with those who do not believe as we do? This is not a statement FOR or AGAINST any current or former leader. It is a call for wisdom.
We will always need change in our country, but should we abandon God’s truth to have it? If we abandon His truth, then what kind of change will we have?
We want to assert the very principle that truth is absolute, truth is supreme, truth is never disposable in national political life. – John Howard
