When there are many words, transgression is unavoidable, but he who restrains his lips is wise. – Proverbs 10:19
In American society, we usually value or esteem those who don’t talk too much. Even if a person lacks great intellect, we may consider him to be intelligent simply because of his silence. Most of us have heard the old adage attributed to Abraham Lincoln, “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.” Yet, aren’t there some situations that require us to speak up?
For example, how about the moments in time that involve an injustice or wrong committed against another? What about all the evil we see being condoned as freedom in our world today? The key is to know when to speak and when to remain silent. Of course, this is where God’s wisdom is SO needed…
… and apart from the wisdom of God, you just can’t know. So, get wisdom!
Silence is golden, but duct tape is silver. – Anonymous
