So He gave them their request, but sent a wasting disease among them. – Psalms 106:15

When the people of Israel grew hungry and complained about it, God gave them manna from heaven. After a while, they got tired of manna and begged God to give them something else to eat. So, God gave them what they asked for, but also something they did not request. They asked for a blessing and got a “spanking” on the side.
Have you ever wanted something very badly and begged God to give it to you? Then, after you received what you asked for, did you wish you could give it back!? Perhaps the reason God often denies us our requests is that He knows us better than we know ourselves. We so often ask in ignorance or with wrong motives. We might even ask for the right reasons, but possess a finite understanding of the outcome. God protects us by not giving us our desires.
Let us continue to make our requests known to God, but also trust Him to truly give us what we need … even if it is spanking “on the side.”
We must all suffer from one of two pains: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. The difference is discipline weighs ounces while regret weighs tons. – Jim Rohn
