Sabbath

For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day there is a sabbath of complete rest, a holy convocation. You shall not do any work; it is a sabbath to the Lord in all your dwellings. – Leviticus 23:3

How is your sabbath?

When God set apart a sabbath day, He wanted the Israelites to use it as a time to meet with Him. They were also supposed to rest from their labors, which, of course, would help them get their minds off personal needs and achievements and onto their Sovereign Creator.

So, I will ask again, how is your sabbath?

Are you resting? Are you meeting with your Sovereign Creator? Many people have difficulty relaxing, but everyone should be able to meet with God, in reverence, sometime, with others who feel the same way and there, in that place, find rest.

Anyone can observe the Sabbath but making it holy surely takes the rest of the week. – Alice Walker
