Undefeated

When you go out to battle against your enemies and see horses and chariots and people more numerous than you, do not be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, who brought you up from the land of Egypt, is with you. – Deuteronomy 20:1

As Israel stood upon the banks of the Jordan River, considering all that faced them on the other side, they knew that war was an inevitable part of their future. To secure their victory, they would have to win the battles required.

And, so it is with us.

Sometimes the forces of our spiritual enemy may seem greater than our own, but there are at least two things we must remember. First, the Lord our God is omnipotent. There is no force that can defeat Him and if we remain on His side, victory is assured. Second, the Lord our God is also immutable. The same God that freed Israel from Egyptian bondage, daily frees men and women from sin and its eternal effects. If these two attributes are not enough to encourage us, then His track record certainly is. God is undefeated!

Is He yours?

With the power of God within us, we need never fear the powers around us. – Woodrow Kroll
