I will make the lame a remnant and the outcasts a strong nation, and the Lord will reign over them in Mount Zion from now on and forever. – Micah 4:7
Though these words of God through His prophet Micah had immediate application for the people of Israel, we see God’s missionary purpose within them as well. God is gathering unto Himself a people from all over the world for His own praise and glory. The question for each individual Christ-follower is if he or she will be an unwitting participant in this harvest or actively choose to join God in His work.
Frankly, it is easy to get sidetracked into earthly activity that neither supports nor adds to God’s great “in-gathering” and miss the opportunity to give God the greatest glory one possibly can. At the same time, “harvesting” produces within the Christ-follower a fruitfulness and fulfillment that cannot be found in any other kind of service. Ultimately, we are here to make disciples, that’s it. When this work is complete, then Christ will return.
This is our primary purpose and if pursued, it will produce our greatest fulfillment resulting in His greatest glory.
The motto of every missionary, whether preacher, printer, or schoolmaster, ought to be “Devoted for life.” – Adoniram Judson
