Our Time to Sing

And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth.” – Revelation 5:9-10

In God’s revelation to the apostle John on Patmos, the heavenly residents sang of Christ’s worth, sacrifice, and redemption when the Lamb of God appeared. They also sang of His purpose in bringing people to saving faith from every tribe, language, people, and nation, and their subsequent reign with Him as kings and priests. If you have ever wondered what the redeemed might sing in heaven, here we have at least one answer.

If your life were a song would it harmonize with this new melody that God revealed? The life that is lived according to God’s purpose will eloquently fold line upon line into a song of praise to Jesus. Does yours? Does mine? What will your “lifesong” ultimately be?

May the song that the redeemed will sing then, begin to be sung by all of us now, and continue for all eternity!

If every Christian is already considered a missionary, then all can stay put where they are, and nobody needs to get up and go anywhere to preach the gospel. But if our only concern is to witness where we are, how will people in unevangelized areas ever hear the gospel? The present uneven distribution of Christians and opportunities to hear the gospel of Christ will go unchanged. – Gordon Olson
